The Hampton Inn Hillsboro was recently honored when Billy Mata and the Texas Tradition chose the Hampton Inn for their lodging accommodations while en route to Garland, Texas where they were being nominated for Western Swing Band, Western Swing Song, Western Swing Album, and Western Swing Male Vocalist of the year.
“We were excited that he would choose our hotel and spend time greeting all the employees the next morning. Billy even took the time to pose for pictures with the staff as they admired the Academy of Western Artists Will Rogers Cowboy Award presented to him the evening before when he was named “ Western Swing Male Vocalist of the Year”, said Peggy Franklin, General Manager.
“I like the opportunity to spend time in the Hillsboro and Whitney area, not only because of the hometown atmosphere and history, but it gives me a chance to research my next CD that I plan as a tribute to Tommy Duncan, a native of Whitney. You probably all remember Tommy, his association with Bob Wills and songs such as San Antonio Rose, Right or Wrong, Stay all Night-Stay a Little Longer”, said Billy Mata.
Anyone interested in the sponsorship and/or advertising on the Tommy Duncan tribute CD is asked to contact Joanne Heston with Texas Tradition Music at www.billymata.com.
Billy Mata and the Texas Tradition will be performing live at Pearls Dance Hall and Saloon in Fort Worth Saturday, August 18.

Billy is pictured here with Roger Edgington, steel guitar and Rocco Fortunato, drums and vocals.
