LA PORTE, TX (September 14, 2006) The Comfort Suites La Porte located at 902 S. 8th Street La Porte, TX joined with the City of La Porte for a Care Package Drive on September 13th and 14th of this year. The Texas Military Family Foundation conducted the drive in conjunction with the Armed Forces Blood Drive. All donations go directly to the Texas Military Family Foundation based in Fort Hood, Texas.

The Texas Military Family Foundation provides direct assisstance to Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors while they are training, deploying, and returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as those that are Stateside either wounded or injured. Items collected ranged from shampoo and shaving cream to candy, baby powder, and hot chocolate mix.

Kevin Hilchey, president of management company Lodging Host Hotel Corp, had this to say. “Whenever I see our hotels getting involved in events like this I feel very proud of the employees. It shows a commitment to both the community and the cause that reflects well on the employees, their hotel, and Lodging Host itself. ”
