April 9th, 2012Great Spring Break Stay

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. The shuttle was very accommodating for taking us to the metro station and to King St. to eat. We liked that the room had central heat/air and not one of those units under the window that just blows constantly and messes up your sinuses! Our children loved the snack room of course and it was very beneficial as we would grab bottles of water and snacks as we were leaving for a day of sightseeing - saves lots of money from buying expensive snacks downtown DC. The only drawback is that the free Wi Fi is not in the guest rooms, but only in the lobby areas. The free parking was a huge plus over other hotels we considered. The beds slept very comfortably and the room suited our needs well. It is not a fancy hotel, but has all the necessities and for the price, I think it is an awesome deal. The free hot breakfast was a huge plus as well, as many hotels we considered did not provide any type of breakfast.
Pros: Free parking, free hot breakfast, free Wi Fi in common areas, free shuttle to metro, free snacks in the awesome snack room!
Cons: Wi Fi was not in guest rooms, only in lobby/common areas
Location: Excellent location for seeing Arlington and DC. Can walk to metro stop if needed and a huge variety of restaurants/shopping in the area

April 9th, 2012Wonderful Experience

We stayed at the Old Colony inn for 3 days and it was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and accomodating. They had a full breakfast which was very good. The amazing thing they had was a snack room that was free. It was well stocked with all kind of goodies. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. There is no elevator. The breakfast is in the basement and snack room is on 2nd floor. If you are not able to do stairs then this is not the place you need to stay. They have a shuttle that takes you to about anywhere you need to go. We would differently stay here again.

I am typically a Marriot/Hampton Inn traveler. I had stayed at a few BW hotels many years ago and just found that Marriot and Hampton were better however, I was pleasantly surprised staying here in Va. Your front desk staff was exceptional, the room was very nice, and I had one of the most comfortable sleeps I have had in a long time at a hotel. The snack, breakfast were also a bonus. Dollar for dollar, probably the best value I have experienced in several years.

I enjoyed the Alexandria area, it’s location to Washington, and will definately return and will definately stay at this hotel again.

Thanks!

Can’t say enough about the great service we received from the staff of this hotel! The hotel itself is in a great location and was extremely clean and nice. They had an awsome hot breakfast and something we had never seen before ~ a snack room that was filled with complimentary snacks and beverages! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

February 9th, 2012Compliment the Employees

We thought this hotel was really great! We had never stayed in the area before but were very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff. We utilized the free shuttle service to the Metro as well as the full hot breakfast which was well stocked and the snack kitchen worked out excellent for a short snack after our trip to Delaware and before our full day to Washington DC. The front desk employee Cigaretta, was very knowledgable and pleasant informing us about the amenities of the hotel and the restaurants nearby.

February 9th, 2012Great value, clean and comfy!

Great price, clean room. The shower head could have been better, but not a big thing. Alexandria, not far from the Pentagon. Nice area, safe neighborhood. I needed to make an unexpected stay in the Washington DC area. This hotel was very affordable and I was extremely pleased at how nice it was. The hotel is not new, but is well-maintained has nice updates & renovations. My room was very clean, the furnishings were very tasteful, relatively new and beds were very comfortable. The entire hotel is non-smoking…a definite plus. Breakfast selection was great–everything from bagels, cold cereal, yogurt & fruit to hot items. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. And no charge for parking–a definite plus in the Washington DC area! I would definitely stay here again–great value!

I stayed here for two weeks, so can report this is a consistently good place to stay. It’s cozy (not too big), quiet, clean, and friendly. The free breakfast is good, and the free snacks really do make a difference. So nice when you just have to have something at night. The staff is friendly, helpful and pleasant. I really appreciated the shuttle bus, as it took me to the train station every day or into Old Town Alexandria, which was too far for me to walk. The location is excellent. There is a grocery about a block away which is another option for snacks or carry out food. There is plenty of free parking which appears to be rare around here. It’s quiet, even though it’s just off the main road, and it’s a lovely residential area. Oh, and the beds are comfortable, with thick fluffy comforters, the towels are nice, and the tv’s are new. Pretty much everything you could want.
