December 1st, 2007Angel Tree Giving in Hillsboro

HILLSBORO, TX - Hampton Inn Hillsboro wanted to give back to their community this Holiday Season.  Employees are participating with the local nursing homes Angel Tree Christmas.  Employees choose five elderly residents from each nursing home.  The residents selected would not otherwise receive gifts and/or visits from family. “You should see the light in their eyes and the giving attitude everyone had when asked if they would like to be part of the program. I saw a few tears also when they found out that these residents would have nothing at Christmas without the Angel Tree Christmas.”, proudly stated Peggy Franklin, General Manager.  Employees will be donating gifts to the Angel Tree recipients.  However, more importantly, they are giving of their time and hearts in this season of giving.

November 21st, 2007A Wonderful Stay

HILLSBORO, TX (November 21, 2007) - Below is a letter submitted to the President of Lodging Host Hotel Corp on behalf of the guest stay at Hampton Inn Hillsboro.  We love receiving our guest’s comments.

“I had the opportunity to meet you several weeks ago at the Hampton Inn in Hillsboro, TX.  I, along with numerous other individuals from OGM and Percheron, spent months calling the Hampton Inn Hillsboro home.  In our line of work living in a hotel is just part of the job.  At this hotel it was very different.  We were treated like family.  I can honestly say that I have never had a better experience at any hotel.

I knew every person on the staff by name and, they knew me by my first name.  I believe that the wonderful attitudes and personalities of the staff are a direct reflection of the outstanding leadership of the General Manager, Peggy Franklin.  I don’t think I could say enough about her and the hospitality she provided to us.

The day I finally checked out was like leaving home and good friends.  I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful group of people you have in Hillsboro and what a great job they are doing.  I look forward to seeing them all again in the near future.”

Justin W. Lyon, Regional Field Manager, Percheron Acquisitions, LLC

Longview, TX (November 2, 2007) - There has been much speculation as to what the crash in the sub-prime market is going to do to Hotel lending and construction.  My quick answers would little and nothing respectively but let me explain because it is certainly not that simple.

While hotel lending does not really have a sub-prime aspect in name it does have “conduit” lending.  This lending source is used for stabilized operating hotels and is significantly more sophisticated than what was happening in the Housing sub-prime market. Read the rest of this entry

LONGVIEW, TX (August 10, 2007) - August 10th will be the final working day for our 2007 summer interns.  Over the previous 12 weeks, these college students have worked full-time positions in three of our hotels rotating through all the departments.  They have learned the in-and-out of hotel operations and have become valuable assets along the way.

“The Lodging Host Internship has definitely been a positive and enriching experience.  It enables you to understand and work in every aspect of a hotel and see how all of the departments work together.  The program gives credence to the phrase ‘you can’t manage what you haven’t done’.  I would consider this program to be a valuable asset to any hospitality student. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Lodging Host and would recommend it to my peers.” stated Jennifer Geier, 2007 Summer Intern from the University of Houston, Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management.
