In the spirit of National Family Fun month, here is a story of how two families became great friends at Plantation Suites & Conference Center.
Laura and her family have been coming to to Plantation Suites & Conference Center for years. One summer, about 5 years ago, they met Karen and her family. Both of the families enjoyed spending time together at the pool and chatting. Their children also hit it off! They didn’t exchange phone numbers; however, when Laura and her family came back the following year Karen was there with her family!
Laura commented and said, “Now we have lifelong family friends. Thank you, Plantation Suites and Karen.”
Karen also commented and replied, “We are very thankful for meeting our new long life friends here. Love plantation suites and our new ‘family.’”
It’s neat to watch how people come together here at Plantation Suites & Conference Center. The family environment radiates community, and we are so thankful that people can enjoy the hotel and everyone here. Thank you, Laura and Karen, for sharing your story with us!
One of the things that is so rewarding working at The Plantation Suites & Conference Center in Port Aransas, Tx, is being able to create a good experience for someone. The icing-on-the-cake is when someone returns a great experience with a “thank you.” This is a note and the gift that was left for us by our wonderful guest Phyllis and her husband.
“We spent a few glorious days at fantastic Plantation Suites & can’t thank you all enough. I made you a parting gift ~ this Monstera Angel ~ made from the leaf sheaths of the big leafed Monstera Plants around the pool. Thank you for a wonderful few days…. We will be back. Thanks Shawn & all your pleasant staff we had the pleasure of meeting!” -Phyllis
Thanks you, Phyllis, for being so generous with your kindness! Come back and stay with us soon!

Meet Molly and Andy! They came in as a walk in and Andy, Molly’s owner started to inform the front desk rep that other pet friendly hotels were scared of Molly and said that she was too big to stay on their properties. Then the Plantation Suites’ front desk rep asked Andy with compassion and no fear “What kind of dog is Molly?” She is an English Mastiff with the biggest heart.
They enjoyed their stay at Plantations Suites and as they were checking out Andy shared that he had lost his beloved wife last year and he now has Molly. She has not only been an encouragement and blessing to Andy but to many other guests at Plantation Suites. They enjoyed meeting her because she is a sweet heart and social butterfly but really a social dog! If you are a pet lover, you can understand the truth behind the statement, “a dog is a man’s best friend”. Andy said that his first night with us was amazing and that they will be returning to stay with us again!!
Thank you Andy and Molly for stay with us and for sharing your heart. We were happy to have you and we look forward to your next stay with us.

Good location: This hotel is close (driving) to downtown and a couple of blocks from the beach. It has a very nice pool and hot tub area surrounded by plants and privacy fence. Great relaxation after a day at the beach. Room is clean and well kept considering the beach environment. Cost is reasonable for the season. We were there in July, so it is expensive wherever you stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room Tip: Second floor is quieter if you don’t mind the stairs.
Kevin P. Hilchey, President of Lodging Host Hotel Corp (LHHC), today announced that company room sales revenues, in same location sales, were up again in July and are positive Year to Date. At the end of the first quarter LHHC reported same location sales down from the prior year. That trend seems to have completely reversed itself in the 2nd quarter and is continuing into the 3rd quarter of 2013 according to company officials.
According to information released by the company today, “For the month of July, as a company, we beat last year by 7.1%. Our Occupancy was up 8.2 points but in July our Average Daily Rate (ADR) was down $2.28 from last year.
For the year we are now 3.4% ahead of last year. At the end of the first quarter of 2013 we were 3.4% behind last year. Year to date our overall Occupancy is up 3 points and our ADR is down $.56 from last year.”
Company officials report that the trend is continuing into August and that the company, based on sales and business backlogs, expects to have “record August results” in several of it’s individual locations.
