Even with all the serious business that must be conducted during a lock-in, there is no reason to think that everyone can’t have a good time as well. Geneva Peacock, GM at Plantation Suites in Port “A”, did a wonderful job of seeing that everyone not only had a good time - they had  a GRAND time! On Sunday, after checking in, everyone gathered in the hospitality suite to “meet and greet”. Food was provided by Mark at Little Joe’s Smok’n Grill. Mark also provided the lunches during the meetings and the shrimp boil on Tuesday evening. The USS Lexington is a WWII aircraft carrier that is docked in Corpus Christi.  Geneva booked one of the rooms for a private dinner, and everyone was treated to a guided tour of the ship. It was truly a night to remember. Wednesday night was one to remember as well, however, for somewhat different reasons. After the shrimp boil, the band began to play.  It didn’t take long before some of the “audience” decided they could be better “entertainers”. Rumor has it that Plantation Suites might be selected as the location of the future lock-in. I don’t know how Geneva can top this one, but it will be no surprise when she does. Marble Falls, TX   Hampton Inn on the Lake: has just completed a $250,000 renovation of its public and guest bathrooms.  General Manager, Pauline Ramirez of Lodging Host, the hotel management company, commented “The marble counter tops, wood vanities, new tile floors and new lighting fixtures give the bathrooms a wonderful spa-like feel.”  Guests give the bathrooms rave reviews.  The bathroom renovation is part of a continuing capital investment program begun in October of 2005 when Rocky Reese and Live Oak Lodging purchased the hotel.  At that time, all the public area furniture and much of the guestroom furniture was upgraded.  Last year, landscaping was improved along with a permanent pool canopy.  “Each off-season we try to upgrade our product to keep it fresh and the best value in the market,” Mr. Reese said.  So far, Live Oak Lodging has invested almost $500,000 in upgrading the Hampton Inn on the Lake.  Live Oak Lodging also owns and operates the 78- room boutique hotel, The Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bayin Rockport. The Hampton Inn in Livingston recently appointed Becky Schomer as the new General Manager, moving from the sales position.  Mike Deal has been appointed as the new Sales Manager, previously employed as the front desk manager.
