June 20th, 2007Lake Marble Falls Transforms
MARBLE FALLS (June 2007) - LakeFest 2007, August 10th-12th, marks the 16th year that the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce transforms Lake Marble Falls into a liquid quarter-mile “racetrack” and the banks of the lake into a wild three-day boat race party. LakeFest takes place in Lakeside and Johnson Parks in Marble Falls, Texas. On Friday, more than 120 boats go in the water for Test & Tune. Drag boat fans swarm Johnson Park on Friday evening for a chance to get up-close and personal with the drivers and boats. Fans have an opportunity to purchase official T-shirts and posters for autographs and have their picture taken with the stars of the show. The highlight of the evening comes at dusk as top-fuelers “fire up,” shooting flames out exhaust pipes and splitting every ear-drum in the park.
Gates open bright and early on Saturday at 7 a.m. for qualifying races that last all day. All of the boat races can be viewed from your quiet Hampton Inn On the Lake lakeside room, or for a more interactive experience, hang out by the pool, which happens to be located at the starting line of the races.
Early-birds can arrive Sunday at 7 a.m. to get a great seat for opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. Top-fuel boats thrill crowds with astonishing speeds that can top 240 miles per hour. The day will end with the awards ceremony following the last race. Like any festival, there will be music, food, drink, vendors, and a parade.
Hampton Inn On The Lake Marble Falls is taking hotel reservations at this time by contract only. For hotel reservations call 877 655 5572 or 830 798 1895 to request a contract.
Book your Lakefest hotel reservation between now and June 30 and receive a gift certificate to use any other time of year (must mention this special at the time of reservation).
