We spent the entire day exploring the unique picturesque State of New Mexico. From the beautiful forest covered mountains of Ruidoso, on to the great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand out at White Sands National Monument and finely to our destination, Las Cruces which is nestled next to the majestic Organ Mountains surrounded by beautiful blue skies of New Mexico. It has been an eventful day & we are ready to relax & unwind.
As we arrive to Staybridge Suites we are welcomed by a friendly guest service agent. Who informs us dinner & music await us. The team is sponsoring a Give Kids The World fundraiser. Imagine what a nice end to the day this is.
Give Kids The World is a non-profit organization that exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
As the night comes to an end they are ecstatic to announce the final proceeds raised for the foundation is $500.28! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Mother Nature has made it quite an exciting month for us here in the D.C. area. We have experienced everything from an earthquake, record breaking high temperatures and strong storms.
The earthquake hit July 16th around 5:04am. It was centered in Rockville, MD and was felt by many residents in the city and surrounding suburbs. Compared to other recent earthquakes in the area, this was a rather big one with a 3.6-magnitude.
We have also experienced a nearly two-week heat wave with temperatures consistently being in the high 90s and 100s. Because of the heat and humidity, a few bad storms have hit with heavy rains and gusty winds. The most recent storm happened on Sunday July 25th, causing floods, fallen trees, and many power outages. The only good result from this storm is now the drop in temperatures. It is forecasted that our temperatures will decline and return to our normal numbers for this time of year.
Now that the temperatures are looking better, it is a perfect time to visit Alexandria! Come stay with us at the Best Western Old Colony Inn. Visit our website at www.hotel-alexandria.com or call us at (703) 739-2222 and make your reservation today!
Our passion is to provide service so memorable our guests tell stories about it! See what guests are saying about The Residence Inn Albuquerque Airport..
” I cannot say enough about this hotel and the staff. In addition to the incredibly convenient ammenities, the housekeeping staff was always smiling and greeting us. The girls at the front desk greeted my two young girls straight away upon check-in. The gentleman who cared for the facilities was kind, warm, and inquired about out stay. The pool area was always clean and always stocked with clean towels. The front desk reps were professional and and humerous. Even though our stay was on a federal government discount, we were never treated as discounted guests and all staff smiled and greeted us, and our children, in the corridors. The little goodie bags for the girls were a huge hit and are still being carried around. It is of great importance to me that my children are treated as welcome customers when we are away from home. Thank you so very much. Our family looks forward to our next stay.”

It has been roughly two years since Hurricane Ike severely damaged our pier in La Porte, but it is set to re-open tomorrow. All parts of the old pier were removed and the new structure stands higher than the old, but the same length with the T-head at the end. New lights have been installed and the new pier is also wheelchair accessible.
Hours will be as follows: Thursday, 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday, 5 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday, 5 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sunday, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Monday through Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Pier rates for children and senior 60 and older are $2 and adults $4. Fees collected will be split between the operator and a fund that has been established for years to cover the cost of repairs and/or replacement.
