September 13th, 2006Staybridge Suites Las Cruces Receives US Army Plaque of Support
LAS CRUCES, NM (September 13, 2006) - On September 13, 2006 the Staybridge Suites Las Cruces was presented with the U.S. Army Garrison White Sands Missile Range Plaque of Support for hosting the entertainers for the 2006 Soldier Show. The plaque, representing Outstanding Service, was presented to Shaunna Grace, General Manager, and Jason Guthrie, Director of Sales, on location at the Staybridge Suites by US Army Command Sergeant Major Dennis Dekker.
The show is a high-energy 90-minute live musical review showcasing the talents of active duty Soldiers who are selected by audition from throughout he Army. They are amateur artists who have a passion for music, dance, and performing. The come from infantry, transportation, military police, medical, intelligence, aviation, signal, and other tactical units. The show is assembled in six weeks and then tours for 6 1/2 months.
The motto, mission, and philosophy of the show were established during World War I as “Entertainment for the Soldier, by the Soldier.”
“The entire idea for the 2006 Soldier Show came from the new Army motto: Call to Duty,” said Soldier Show director Victor Hurtado. “Answering loudly and clearly with reasons why Soldiers join the Army. For our civilian audience it may illustrate why people join. For our military audience it might remind them why - what their initial reasons were and why they continue to serve.”
The 2006 U.S. Army Soldier Show “Reveille: Answering the Call” was held at White Sands Missile Range on September 14, 2006 with the Staybridge Suites management proudly in attendance.
