LAS CRUCES, NM -  “The team at Staybridge Suites wants to welcome the West Region Police Academy to Las Cruces and our hotel.”

The Staybridge Suites Las Cruces welcomes the White Sands Missile Range Regional Police Academy.  The academy was inaugurated in 2005 to train United States Department of Defense newly appointed Federal Police Officers. The two month training academy meets and exceeds all federal law enforcement officer professional training standards. The White Sands Missile Range Police Academy has several law enforcement instructors who are certified in all phases of basic and advanced law enforcement curriculum.

Because the academy is a two month process, the cadets like having the full kitchens, spacious suites and amenities of the Staybridge Suites hotel.  The cadets also chose the Staybridge Suites because of its’ proximity to the White Sands Missile Range.

The range is located in the Tularosa Basin of south-central New Mexico. The area is 20 miles east of Las Cruces. White Sands Missile Range is a rocket range in New Mexico operated by the United States Army. The range covers an area of almost 3,200 miles, making it the largest military installation in the United States.

The police academy is designed to provide the new officer with specific knowledge, ability and skills necessary to perform at the entrance level in Federal Law Enforcement. Eligible students include personnel performing law enforcement missions on Department of Defense installations and activities.
